STUCK AT THE BRUSSELS AIRPORT
NOT GOOD!!!!
I left early this morning at 4:45 - never made it to bed as I thought would happen... - , parked the car near the station, took the train to Brussels, checked in, boarded at 9AM,.. and guess what...
I am still here!! It's 1:30 PM already.
Some kind of technical problem with the plane. Northwest Airlines are now driving the needed parts (yes... an airline that doesn't take the risks and is its stuff on the road) from Amsterdam.
Looks like this might become an interesting delay alright.
Once boarded I almost immediately fell (which is not uncommon) and never noticed whatever happened. We had been in the plane for almost two hours when they had everybody get off again.
When they woke me up the front half of the plane was already empty.
It would have been too good to be true if we had actually already landed in Detroit... haha.
Just heard the parts left Amsterdam at 11:30. So they should be getting in any moment now (if traffic isn't too bad).
I am so asolutely going to miss the connecting flight to Atlanta. Nobody here can say what the deal is and what possible connecting flight there might be available. And then we don't know if there are any seats available on those flights.
Let's just hope I will get to Atlanta before 10PM (local time). In that case the corps will still be there, and I can join them, hop on one of the vehicles and go with them from there.
If not... well,... I will have to rely on my improvising talents I guess.
At least Northwest gave us all a voucher for a full meal, so I had some Pizza, chicken wings, fries, a sandwich and some delicious Tiramisu.
Right now I am enjoying the convenience of the hospitality lounge on the fourth floor. Free internet, free drinks (having a delicious Leffe Blond as I am typing) and more free food.
All I can do is wait for further announcements....
Enjoy, (well,... not really!)
