DRUM CORPS EUROPE IN ROTTERDAM AGAIN

Beatrix drum & bugle corps - Hilversum

Perhaps we weren't supposed to see it yet, for the announcement was removed shortly after it appeared on www.drumcorps.nl

But apparently we're going back to the SPARTA stadium for the Drum Corps Europe Championships 2006 !!!

DCE Championships back in Rotterdam!
The DCE Championships will once again be held in the Sparta Rotterdam stadium.

Both the Drum Corps Europe organization and Sparta were very pleased with the 2005 event which ran smootly, and have therefore decided to work together again for the 2006 championships.

Good news! Only 16 miles from home!!!

GREAT NIGHT AT THE THEATRE

Last night another fantastic evening out. Went to see one of my all-time favourite Dutch musical theatre company: HET GROOT NIET TE VERMIJDEN.

Incredibly gifted (talented) musicians!!!!!This show featured several highlights from their previous productions, of which I think I only missed one season….

Hilarious scenes, great musical arrangements, clever gimmicks, stunning lighting, creative excellence!

Entertainment with a capital E!!! (and the other letters too!)

Best fun in quite some time...

YOUNGBLOOD BRASSBAND

Mike Boman - trumpet with Youngblood Brassband

Holy shit,... can these guys play!!!!

Already enjoyed a live outdoor concert of this US-based nine-piece wild ensemble at the 5th of May celebrations in Wageningen a while back. I immediately bought their CDs and have since infected all of my brass friends with this unbelievable wall of sound and musicality.... Drum Corps Punk as they list their style.... I love it!

Went to see them at Tivoli in Utrecht last night. Took the camera as usual and shot away.
Lots of new pieces but also trademarks such as "Avalanche". Loved "Is that is a Riot" from their new album! And "Headbanger" really got the place going there in Utrecht.

Nice chat with some of the band members after the gig. Thanks Mike!

New Orleans Mardi Gras pieces took the fans' minds back to the devastating tragedy that hit New Orleans last year. A wonderful tribute.

Have even considered going to see them again tonight, when they'll play in Den Bosch. Might wait until the end of their European Tour when the perform in Brussels. Will see.

In the meantime I'm enjoying their new recording and the pix.
